Racing Awareness For 2022
“Hair today, gone the 14th June!”
After growing his hair throughout the COVID Pandemic, JJRacing’s founder, Monty, cut off all his hair and donated it to the Little Princess Trust, a Cancer Support charity who provide real hair wigs, free of charge, to children and young people who have lost their own hair through cancer.
Monty’s original target was to raise £500 to cover the costs of creating the wigs, however after surpassing his original target in rapid time - he pledged to his twitch followers “The more money I can raise, the more hair I will remove!” with his audience setting 3 additional targets:
- £1000 – He will shave off all his hair, beard included
- £1500 – He will also Wax his legs
- £2000 – He will also Wax his back and chest
…. £2,506 later, Monty made the trip to his old college, Highlands College, where the Beauty & Therapy students grabbed the shavers, warmed up the wax and got to work. The whole event was live streamed on JJRacing’s Twitch as Monty’s audience got to witness him seeing his head for the first ever time + learn how painful chest waxes are … very impressively managed with tongue fully bitten as he desperately clung onto keeping the show “Family friendly”!
When asked by staff at the end of the ordeal as to the purpose, Monty responded - “The more we raise, the more people we support, it’s that simple. Cancer affects everyone’s life - we’re in this together and no one should feel they’ve lost control or go through this journey alone.”
In memory of James’ own Granny, Solagne Fontaine, who passed away from cancer during the Christmas weekend in 2021.
